The Development Team and Redevelopment Project
In 2006 the E
xecutive Board of the club recognised that if Helsby Community Sports Club was to continue to develop and become sustainable in the longer term, it needed to make the transition from being almost exclusively volunteer ran to being more professionally managed. January 2007 saw the appointment of Michelle Pickstock (pictured left) as the club`s Business Development Manager.
As well as securing external funding, marketing, and introducing business processes, Michelle will also be working to develop the club`s volunteer base and leading the club`s Redevelopment Project. George Randles (pictured right), who is a member of the Helsby Parish Council and Executive Board member of Helsby Community Sports Club, has recently become semi retired from his company, and has offered to work with Michelle as the club`s Development Officer. The other two key members of the Development Team are Alan McKie and Terry O`Neill.

Redevelopment Project
As visitors to the club will know our clubhouse no longer meets the need of a growing club, and we are working hard behind the scenes to raise much needed funds to kick start the project. The club have recently been successful in being awarded a Rural Delivery Programme Grant of £165,000, and Helsby Parish Council have pledged £100,000.
We have launched our `Buy A Brick`appeal to help towards our redevelopment project. This was recently boosted when a kindhearted business man, Steve O`Connor, donated £25,000 to demonstrate his support for the appeal.
These are very much for discussion at the moment. Over the next few weeks the Development Team will be consulting with representatives from each section to discuss these plans in more detail and make any necessary changes.
In recent exciting developments the club have been in discussions with a local developer about the possibility of relocating to an alternative site in the village. This is subject to feasibility studies and more news will be posted soon, but if this does go ahead it will allow the club to consolidate all of its facilities in one sports complex.
