Helsby Bowls

Helsby Bowling Club has a long history in the village, with its history going back to the 19DSCF004030s.  We have two, well maintained, full sized, floodlit greens overlooked by a two story pavillion.  With a membership of 120, including juniors, we have 14 teams playing in a variety of local leagues.  We are aSport England Clubmark accredited club, which demonstrates our comitment to providing a safe and well run club for juniors.  We even have a team exclusively made up of juniors who play in the Runcorn Bowls League.

Our coach, John Clements, is a fully qualiified British Crown Greens Bowls Coach (BCGBC).  John runs coaching sessions for juniors on a Saturday morning from 11am and adults from 12 noon.  If you are interested in taking up bowls or are looking for a team, call down to the greens on a Saturday and have a chat with John.  Alternatively if you are intersted in joining Helsby Bowling Club email bowls@helsbysports.com or ring Graham White on 01928 723328 or John Clements on 01928 722524.  New members are always welcome.

Helsby Junior Bowls section was recently awarded Clubmark status, which demonstrates our commitment to being a quality club and providing a safe place for juniors to learn bowls.

Bowler brews up in a Billiard’s Cup!

Helsby Bowling Club’s, Graham White, had to think on his feet at the recent presentation of the annual Sid Thornton Memorial Trophy, after the trophy was nowhere to be found.  Mark Winnington of Hartford, a regular visitor to the club had won the competition before it transpired that last year’s winner hadn’t returned the trophy.  Quick thinking Graham presented Mark with a Billiards Cup instead, leaving the crowd none the wiser.

Mark has generously offered to donate a cup to the junior who gets the furthest in next year’s competition.
